SPOILERS WITHIN..

From the makers of Terminator 3 comes a film portraying a somewhat believable future where the average human being interacts with the rest of the world behind the veil of robot clones. A concept resembling that of today’s internet identities, the chilling similarity to the growing trend of spending hours on end behind the computer at work or at home, from social networking to video game addiction, people just can’t seem to pull themselves away from their computers. In the movie, however, it takes the psychology to the next level where people are not interested anymore in being who they are but a more perfected version of themselves: younger, in-shape, adorned with super-human strength and abilities. Unfortunately, the movie doesn’t explore this facet of the plot to any extent. Instead, the whole thing seems like an X-Files episode starring Bruce Willis as agent Mulder.

What’s worse is there’s a fundamental flaw in the storytelling. The two FBI agents are trying to figure out how the users of the robot surrogates are dying when their surrogates “die” and who is behind the murders. Now, they build up the question of user-death to a point where you’re waiting for the answer and when it finally comes, it’s vague and unsatisfying. Instead, the focus remains on the why but never gives us a how. Coupled with a lack of character development on the part played by Ving Rhames, The Prophet (a terrible, terrible alias if I’ve ever heard one), the movie starts to fall apart half-way through. The Prophet is supposed to be this leader of the Humanist revolution movement who lives among the real humans who deny the existence of surrogates in special colonies throughout the world, surrogates disallowed. When he turns out to be a surrogate himself run by the creator of the surrogate robots, it’s not surprising at all because his character never had a chance on screen. In fact, if I were Ving Rhames I’d be pissed. He could have had a whole scene where he discussed his philosophy against “surrogacy” when Bruce Willis entered the human colony to speak with him. Instead, Bruce gets his ass kicked by The Prophet’s toadies and that ends the whole opportunity. Maybe this is the way it happened in the graphic novel? If it is, then I wouldn’t be impressed with it either.

Another poor use of the plot outlined in the beginning is that the surrogate creator, Dr. Cantor, loses his son and Tom Greer (Bruce Willis) empathizes with him that he lost his son as well. This creates a bond between them that moves the story along. In the end, however, Dr. Cantor plans to destroy not only all the surrogates in the world to teach humanity a lesson, but all the users as well. This makes NO sense whatsoever. Why would a man who lost his son and who found solace in his bond with Greer want to kill billions of people suddenly? Maybe it’s not so sudden — Cantor kills quite a few people throughout the movie, but this makes for superficial rationalisation since Cantor’s real qualm is with VSI, the corporation which manufactors, markets and distributes surrogates. If Cantor was a man who snapped, we didn’t see a before photo, only an after.

All of this might have been forgivable if it weren’t for all the cliches throughout the movie (the dialogue was particularly bad at parts). Obviously, the moral lesson is clear: humans first. Hmmm, didn’t we get that in the Matrix? Or I, Robot? Or Terminator? Shall I go on? Not that it’s wrong to pitch the ethical dilemma, but the hard sell is inappropriate at this point. I would have much rather they focused on the characters than on the crime sleuthing (especially since there were a couple of seasoned actors in it who, despite the circumstances, did a pretty decent job). The plot in a noir flick is already a given; adding to it is where a movie becomes a work of art.

All New Star Track Flies To Old Space In 2009

Do you know that the original Star Trek flick was supposed to be a prequel to the at that time terminated TV program? This attraction for a prequel to the most popular intergalactic account of all period maintained throughout the times. In 1991, for instance, the 6th Star Trek film was meant to present a new group of stars who would’ve played the new accounts of the established member. In 2001, Enterprise was aired, introducing the primary adventures of the USS Enterprise under the command of Jeffrey Archer.

Only in 2009 will an actual prequel to the first series be carried out.

Simply entitled Star Trek, the new movie will gyrate approximately the establishment of the extraordinary closeness linking James Kirk and Spock, the institutions of the franchise. This time however, they will be played by young, up-and-coming stars. Chris Pine will do the character of a young James Kirk, and Zachary Quinto will portray the character of a young Spock.

To establish continuity with the first films, Leonard Nimoy will reprise his character as an older Spock who will have encounter his younger self via time travel. It was stated that Nimoy anticipated much from the screenplay, and if it wasn’t to his preference, he would have insisted a modification before he would assent to join the shooting of the film.

To say that he was thrilled about the screenplay would be an understatement.

Leonard Nimoy was told to be keen after understanding the script. He couldn’t ask something more to create it better in his opinion.

This promises well for the next episode of the well adored sequence, as nothing but positive tales and assessments – this early – have originated from the group and from the location. Such is pleasant news certainly, as Star Trek is a franchise with the most ardent devotees in existence, where protests are controlled when a Vulcan is portrayed to have longer-than-normal ears.

Aside from Kirk and Spock, younger versions of program regulars such as Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy, Montgomery “Scotty” Scott, Uhura, Pavel Chekov and Hikaru Sulu will comprise the team of the USS Enterprise.

Star Trek takes flight on May 8, 2009 to start the year’s summer hit celebration.
buy movie online
download free new movie

Turn on your computer and browse through the series of online websites. Sure enough, you are going to meet a handful of unlimited online portals that make the illegal movie downloads their cup of tea. This prospect is then the best avenue for those who wish to get their hands on their favorite films without shelling any single cent out of their pockets! And who says no one is practicing such? Not all movie enthusiasts are straight. Many of them, if not all, pleasurably take part in the illegal act of using the copies of the movies for their own benefit.

With the variety of websites that permit the download of movies, it is too hard to comprehend on their validity as your sources. Oftentimes, you get confused about which sites are supposed to be legal. After all, not any one of them claims that they are illegal, right? So the choice is yours. You must be very cautious if you don’t want to face the risks that come along with illegal movie downloads. So, better ask yourself. Are you willing to sacrifice a lot in terms of the film’s quality just for a free opportunity?

So, why must you avoid the illegal movie downloads? Here are a couple of reasons.

Reason 1

A legal movie download gives you a better viewing experience. You are certain to hate having to squint your eyes and look closely at the screen just to decipher what is going on in the scene. Illegal movie downloads are typical of hazy figures and inaudible sound.

Reason 2

A legal site promotes better download. When the online website for movie downloads is backed up with a movie production outfit, then, you can enjoy watching the film as if it is the original copy itself. So, ensure that the website that you are accessing is authorized by major film productions.

Reason 4

You spare yourself from the verdict of the law. For quite some time you may be spared by the law but in due time, there would be an end to it all. Why risk your future just for the illegal movie downloads? In fact, you can be banned from using the Internet because there is a proposed campaign that monitors the ISPs of those who adhere to piracy.

Reason 5

Illegal movie downloads degrade the effort concerted by the producers and the staff to come up with a polished output. More so, the industry itself would lose its glory because of this detrimental act. So, why not be an instrument for change and partake in providing the solution rather than be a contributor to the problem?

This year marks a milestone for me — it is the first year I will vote in the annual Razzie Awards. In preparation for this I decided to immerse myself in the world of truly wretched filmmaking by enduring a two-week Razzie marathon. This serves two purposes: to act as a reference for the awful films released this year, and so that when the Razzie ballot lands on my doormat in December I have the depth of knowledge to inform my vote in the Worst of the Decade Awards. The marathon will consist of as many films as I can watch. They will range from I Know Who Killed Me to Gigli and everything in between.

mike myers love guruFor the opening movie in the marathon I chose the current Worst Picture “winner,” The Love Guru.

The title sequence of The Love Guru basically consists of Mike Myers singing an Indian version of Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5”, in a stereotypical Indian accent and while scantily clad Indian ladies dance in the typical Bollywood style. This tells you that you are in for 87 minutes of brutally unfunny jokes and borderline racist representation of Hindus and Indians. This film is also offensive to dwarves, anyone with a brain cell, and Mariska Hargitay, who actually appears in the film.

The film’s plot revolves around Guru Pitka (Myers) being hired by the owner of an ice hockey team (Jessica Alba) to reunite their star player (Romany Malco) with his estranged wife (Meagan Good). On top of that, Justin Timberlake plays the subtly named Jacques “Le Coq” Grande, a player for the rival team and also the wife’s new boyfriend. What ensues is 87 minutes of laugh-free, awkward, and crass jokes that seem like they were written by a five-year-old. This is even more shocking when you learn that screenplay was written by Myers himself and co-screenwriter Graham Gordy.
Download Love Guru 2009 Movie Songs

Filmed mostly in Colombia, Maria Full of Grace is a dramatic movie about the illegal drug industry occurring between Colombia and the United States. The movie was released in 2004 and is approximately 90 minutes long. Maria Full of Grace effectively portrays the differences in lifestyle between the United States and South American countries with much smaller GDPs (Gross Domestic Products). Viewers will see the extremes that people will go through to get drugs through customs and make extremely large amounts of money.

In the beginning of the movie, we get a feel of what Maria’s daily life is like in Colombia. She works in a flower shop, removing thorns from roses. Her boss walks the isles of his workers all day long asking for more production and asking if his workers are meeting their quotas. Maria returns home every day to a small home with approximately three rooms which she shares with her mother, two sisters, and baby niece. She also has a boyfriend named Juan who does not have much of a promising future and has a happy-go-lucky attitude. Juan and Maria walk the town often and stop to kiss or climb onto rooftops to gain some privacy.

The director portrays an active nightlife in the Colombian city where Maria lives. She and Juan often go out drinking and dancing at various parties or clubs with Maria’s little sister Blanca. Juan usually drinks too much and does not pay much attention to Maria, leaving her to find guys for her female friends and for Maria to get hit on by other young men at the parties. She seems like a young woman who has morals and is wiser than most of her friends leading the viewer to think that she and Juan will not make it together. This is especially evident when a young, hip guy named Franklin approaches her and attracts her attention unlike most other guys. Franklin and Maria end up parting ways but will meet each other again.

Maria and Juan are obviously very attracted to one another, and while Maria is talking to Juan in private one afternoon, she tells him she is pregnant with his child. Juan reacts to this news in a very immature way, first becoming angry, then by asking Maria to marry him. He feels like it is his responsibility and the right thing to do at the moment. She does not say yes to him because she feels he is not being genuine and does not really want to get married. She leaves and returns to her job, where a bad situation becomes much worse. Her boss is constantly looking over her shoulder again causing her to become irritated and to quit her job. She returns home to argue with her mother and sisters who accuse her of being selfish since the family is in serious need of money.

A frustrated Maria leaves home to think about a new job and passes Franklin on his motorcycle. She gets on the motorcycle with him and they ride to the city together to have a drink and talk to one of his friends. It is clear at this point that Franklin is trying to sweep Maria off her feet and that she is really enjoying his relaxing company. The two end up going to a dive bar where a Mafia-looking man is sitting in the corner. Franklin approaches him and gets the man to agree to talk to Maria for a moment. The dirty looking man is heavily involved in cocaine trade and offers Maria a job. She lies about her age, saying she is eighteen when she is really only seventeen, and says she will gladly work for him. The man gives her several hundred dollars to show that his word is good and tells Maria to meet him at a local doctor’s office in a few days. Maria is more relaxed at this point and returns home to donate some of the money to her needy family.

Maria Full of Grace really becomes interesting when Maria arrives to the doctor’s office a few days later. She is led upstairs by secret passageway where the doctor and the drug lord are waiting for her. The doctor asks her to swallow a lubricating fluid and a pill that will slow down her digestion process. The drug lord, whose name is Javier, asks her to swallow a total of sixty two pellets coated in synthetic rubber and full of cocaine. She struggles while swallowing all of the pellets, but manages to get them all into her stomach and onto a plane to New York. Once in New York, she will fully digest the pellets and wash them off before handing them off to drug distributors.

On the plane to New York, she sees two other drug mules she knows, a woman named Lucy and her little sister, Blanca. Blanca is only sixteen years old, but knows that if she can make it through this trip that she has the chance to make over five thousand dollars. In a country like Colombia where people do not have the opportunity to make much money, five thousand dollars can change one’s life. While Maria and Blanca have major stomach pains during the flight, Lucy becomes seriously ill. The plane lands in New York where the girls know they need to digest the pellets quickly, especially for Lucy who is in danger of dying from one of the pellets breaking open in her stomach.

However, Maria looks suspicious when walking through customs at the airport in New York. The police and customs agents pull her into an examination room to begin questioning her in Spanish. She denies that she has any form of drugs in her body, but cannot produce a believable story to the agents. Maria is forced to give a urine sample to rule out drugs in her system where the agents discover she is pregnant. The agents really want to do a CT scan on her stomach to look for capsules or pellets holding drugs, but quickly rule this out due to her pregnancy. Luckily, Maria is released from the customs office and meets up with Lucy and Blanca.

The three young females meet again in a hotel room where the drug distributors are staying. The men watch the three young women and wait patiently for them to digest the drug pellets and clean them off. Maria and Blanca produce the pellets quickly, but Lucy is still in serious danger. It turns out that a pellet has leaked open into her stomach where she received a lethal dose of cocaine. While she is in the bathroom, she passes out and dies under the shower’s water stream. The young men send Lucy and Blanca out of the room briefly, and when they return to the room they are terrified. Lucy is gone, but there is blood all over the tub and a sense of death in the room.

At this point, Maria and Blanca grab their cocaine pellets and run out of the hotel. They find Lucy’s sister in a random apartment building and manage to stay there for several weeks. Lucy’s sister puts the two young women in touch with a local man who has a way of finding jobs for young Latina women without much prospect for finding a job. He finds out that the two women are drug mules and are holding mass amounts of cocaine in their purses, and also informs them that Lucy was in fact gutted and killed in the hotel so the young men could recover her drugs.

Maria and Blanca are terrified and know that if they do not do the right thing, that they too will be killed. Therefore, they contact the drug distributors and hand over the cocaine pellets. After accounting for all of the pellets, the young men do the fair thing and pay both of the girls the full amount of money owed to each. Maria feels guilty for taking advantage of Lucy’s sister and grateful for being allowed to stay in the woman’s apartment, so she gives a majority of her money to Lucy’s sister. This money is intended to repay her debt to the woman, and more importantly, to pay for Lucy’s funeral.

Now that Maria and Blanca have money to return home to Colombia with and have safely resolved the situation with their cocaine pellets, they must return to the airport and leave New York. They safely make it through customs this time and are ready to board the plane when the two young women have an argument. Blanca is still immature and does not realize that she can do better in life than being a drug mule. Maria has come to her senses after talking to Lucy’s sister and realizes that life as a drug mule or life back in Colombia really is not a life at all. She now knows that there are more opportunities for her in the United States and especially in New York. While Blanca boards the plane and waits for Maria to board, Maria turns around without saying a word and vows never to leave the United States. This is a very dramatic point in the movie where Maria shows that she has learned her lessons in life and now wants to have a better life for her and her baby on the way.

Maria Full of Grace provides a chilling account of what life is like in Colombia, especially for a drug mule. It is also clear from watching this movie that there is an extremely large amount of money involved in the illegal drug industry. Research shows that a large amount of drug mules are captured in customs and on the United States borders, but the drug lords still manage to make billions of dollars every year. The mark up on their product is so large that they can afford to lose almost half of their product when drug mules are caught every day in the United States. Maria Full of Grace is not just a story of a poor family who look for better opportunities by being drug mules; it is an accurate account of the extremes people will go through to make money in poor areas. While many people make large amounts of money by producing and trafficking drugs in countries like Colombia, it is still illegal and extremely punishable in the United States. The risks are great and include imprisonment for life, or death. Due to the simple plot and drama involved in the movie, Maria Full of Grace is rated a 3.5 out of 5.

I am certainly one of the people who was really looking forward to watching this movie because the book, The Way of the Peaceful Warrior, did have a significant impact on my life when I read it about 15 years ago. I was not disappointed.

I was impressed with the level of talent that was brought to it. I thought Nick Nolte was great as Socrates. I also liked Scott Mechlowicz and Amy Smart in their roles.

Of course, as a big fan of the book, I couldn’t help being a little disenchanted that it didn’t follow it more closely. I realize that was destined to be the case though. The key messages still made their way to the audience in a poignant manner.

I have to admit that there is much I cannot remember now from the book because after I read it I lent it to an acquaintance and never got it back. After renting the DVD I bought it and will buy the original book again as well.

The one missing piece that I had truly hoped to see on screen was the long speech Socrates made at the end of the book as this had the most profound effect on me. Then I remembered that Dan had also put this speech in another book of his that I purchased, No Ordinary Moments. Here is an excerpt.

“…these concerns can monopolize your attention; you think, I’ve got no time for bliss right now; I have to get this report in by noon tomorrow! So the truth that sets you free gets buried at the bottom of the ‘in’ box. You look for immediate solutions to life’s little problems. Drowning in a deluge of details, you grab for anything that floats, when, with a simple shift of attention, you could enjoy the water. Right now, in this and every moment, you are engaged in a great battle! The shadows of fear and insecurity sing you to sleep, call you into the cocoon… Why do I tell you this? It’s to let you know you’re not alive! Not yet. Now is the time to wake up.”

As I re-read it I realized that the path I have decided to take in my life is not only in accord with the Hero’s journey but is also in harmony with the way of the Peaceful Warrior!

I highly recommend both the book and the DVD!

One of the defining movies of the 80’s decade, The Breakfast Club remains an entertaining film which evokes nostalgia among many viewers. Inevitably, any foray into the cinema blockbusters of the 1980s will evoke a number of titles, such as Back To The Future, Beverly Hills Cop, or The Goonies. The Breakfast Club is certainly one of those films, and it’s almost universally cited as one of the preeminent films from the era. If you enjoy relationship films, it’s easy to see why, because The Breakfast Club is a movie built solely on the strength of its characters and the conflict surrounding them.

Shermer High School principal Richard Vernon (Paul Gleason) oversees the Saturday morning detention of five high school students from differing backgrounds. Confining them to the library, he fails to relate to them as individuals with a future or a purpose. Making up the cast of misfit characters are Andy Clark (Emilio Estevez), Brian Ralph Johnson (Anthony Michael Hall), John Bender (Judd Nelson), Claire Standish (Molly Ringwold), and Allison Reynolds (Ally Sheedy). Forced to spend their Saturday together, the five students strike up a conversation (with the exception of the muted Allison). For the most part, their conversation consists of picking on each other and making jokes at each other’s expense.

Continually butting heads with Principal Vernon, the teens help pass the time by uniting against Vernon and by engaging in conversation with the infinitely wise janitor, Carl (John Kapelos). Eventually, each student (including Allison, who eventually opens up) comes to understand the plight of the other. The pretty princess Claire doesn’t have a perfect life. Neither does the popular wrestling champ Andy. Brian and Allison have their own problems just like anyone else, and John puts up a front to look tougher and more hardened than he really is. In the end, the five develop a lifelong bond – with Claire and John igniting a budding relationship.

Sporting a smash hit soundtrack headlined by Simple Minds’ “Don’t You (Forget About Me),” The Breakfast Club attained instant cult classic status. The ‘brat pack’ came to define a generation and made its mark in Hollywood. A light-hearted comedy, blended together with a series of relationships between different people, The Breakfast Club’s true strength lies with the ability of its audience to relate to the issues at hand. The characters recount stories from their lives that in one way or another are easily relatable to most every American who attended high school.

It’s this universal familiarity with the themes depicted by The Breakfast Club that make it a classic adored by millions. Despite the longings of teenagers throughout time to forge unique identities and set themselves aside as revolutionary, in the end, most high schools sport the same cast of characters, and those various roles have remained unchanged for most of the last several decades. As one of the most memorable films of the 80’s decade, The Breakfast Club is a definite must-see movie.

Laurence Fishburne, Columbus Short, Fred Ward, Matt Dillon, Jean Reno, Amaury Nolasco, Milo Ventimiglia, and Skeet Ulrich bring action back to the theatre with the new hit movie Armored. Columbus Short plays a newbie armored car guard with a head strong and serious side. When his armored car team sets up an initiation into the armored car guard league he takes their trick serious at first and gets a little sore. But as soon as he thought it was real the team laughs it off and tells him he is now a full fledged armored car guard. Later in the film the character played by Columbus is having financial problems and it seems that the bank is about to take his house that his family lives comfortably in. Well his team members are not about to allow that to happen. So they set up an elaborate scheme to take $42 million dollars that will be hauled from one location to another by the team’s trucks.

In the beginning of the plan Columbus’s character doesn’t like the idea of hijacking his own truck and teams trucks but after some coercing by his fellow team members he agrees under one condition. His condition is that no one is to get hurt. The team assures him that no one will get hurt but as usual when things like this happen, that promise is broken. Ty Hacket, the character played by Columbus is freaked out about this and decides to turn on the team and save the victim. Of course this does not go over to well with the team and so a battle begins to get Ty to surrender himself and the victim. Ty decides to take one of the armored trucks instead and so the chase is on. Great action!

Also Known As:
Armoured

Just how many of us are interested in stories that relates to bones? A fraction of peoples perhaps, at the most, if compared to traps outlined with plenty of innuendos (aliens with boners) – a fact that Steven P. Fisher (writer) and R.W. Goodwin (director) were fast to grasp. But should it be a reason enough to turn a promising parody sour? Even those who love the 1950s era science fiction movies shall find the digression hard to digest; this time, it’s social ignorance based on a flat imitation of the exaggerations that fails miserably to live up to its initial promise.

The story is about an UFO that crashed in Americana, a small town and a frank and honest scientist Ted Lewis, who abandons for some time Lana – his incessantly romantic wife Lana and proceeds to know the secrets of a glowing, flying saucer. The UFO captured the attention of the town’s residents and the scientist, who gets abducted and becomes the residential body of Urp, an alien. Urp is on a mission to deal with Ghota – a Cyclop-like monstrous alien with tentacles – and to finish him off. This one-eyed space monster is breaking nuisance to the local community with his habit of turning anything that’s living into puddles.

Regarding the technicality and filming, Alien Trespass deserves a few laurels as much as its vibrant, dazzling and iridescent coloration and the wardrobe – fantastic is an understatement if we have to apply an adjective. As far as the movie’s acting ensemble goes, it is stylistically accurate at the least and certainly deserves more than a few commendations on the performances. However, all that cannot wipe the fact out that all these could have produced a far greater output if the screenwriter knew the places to incorporate the opportunities that the actual comic had in terms of substantiality.

What should we rank it at? You are to decide; however, officially the ratings are PG for this 90 minutes long C+ category movie.
