Researchers have determined the presence of other people may enhance the movie-watching experience. The researchers at the Journal of Consumer research are the first to examine how a shared experience affects our overall impressions of an experience as a whole. Researchers observed that movie-watchers influence one another and gradually synchronize their emotional responses while watching a film together. The bottom line is that mimicry of this type affects each participant’s evaluation of the overall movie experience, and therefore the movie reviews are usually in sync.

The research was accomplished as follows. The researchers asked the participants in the study to watch a video clip. While some viewers watched the film alone, others had comrads watch it with them. There was a partition in between some of the paired participants so their expressions could not be viewed. There were others left with no partition, whose expressions could be seen. Joysticks were used by all to indicate their feelings at each moment while viewing the clip.

When the participants were asked how much they liked the movie clip, each reported higher ratings the more their assessments lined up with the other person. Apparently when they mimicked expressions, people catch each other’s moods. This leads to a shared emotional experience. In the end, that feels good to people, so they attribute that good feeling to the quality of the movie.

Researchers determined that those people watching who watched the film clip together appeared to evaluate the film within the same broad mood – either tracking up or down. The researchers also videotaped the participants and found that people adopt the observed expressions of others – the synchrony of their evaluations can be traced to the fact that they glanced at the other person while they watched the movie clip.

If by chance they looked at one another at the exact same moment in time …the researchers said they appeared to note whether the other person’s face expressed the same or different emotion than their own. If they perceived congruity – or the same expression as their own, the participants kept their current emotional expression . . . however if they perceived incongruity, or a different expression, this led to a dampening of subsequent expressions. Researchers concluded that these social effects were bi-directional, meaning that the influences were not the result of a leader-follower pattern, but rather mutual.

The study was the first to look at contagious emotions in a naturally developing relationship between two participants.

Source: Suresh Ramanathan and Ann L.
20th, Summit Entertainment has released an EPK for the media to use. If youre not familiar with the term EPK, it stands for Electronic Press Kit. An EPK is where the studio puts movie clips, trailers, and behind the scenes footage from whatever movie theyre promoting. Anyway, Ive taken the movie clips Summit released, as well as all the behind the scenes footage, and posted two videos after the jump.
Bollywood movies have a huge fan following and there are countless people interested in reviews of the movies that are released. When a new movie is released, you want to know what the story is about. More importantly, you want to know whether the movie will be a worthy watch, or not.

Definitely, you will want to spend your money buying tickets for a movie that is good. To make sure that the movie you are going to watch is a good one or not, you have to go through the reviews. After the first day of the movie’s first show, you can browse through various websites for the reviews. You will find that the reviews may differ from one website to the other. What you need to do is, go through several websites and try to get a general view of the movie and response of viewers.

The importance of a Bollywood film review

Bollywood movie reviews play a significant role in the success of a movie. When it comes to a blockbuster hit movie, you will find that the movie reviews provide high ratings for that particular movie. Like Hollywood, Bollywood movies also owe a lot to good reviews. It has been observed that a good film review works wonders for a Bollywood movie, while a bad film review may be really nasty for a movie causing it to flop at the box office.

What does a film review speak of?

Film critics, who analyze a film, write a review depending on various standards. Critics study the plot of the movie and also write about the performance of the actors in the movie. Other topics which are usually discussed in movie reviews are music, direction, screenplay, choreography, and a general view of the film.

A film review gives away a lot of the movie’s story, so it might decrease your curiosity about the movie to a great extent. However, not getting prejudiced only by common opinion and watching the film yourself would be a wiser idea. Often, it has been seen that a much talked about film turns out to be a “flop”. While a less heard about movie, or one that has not done very well at the box office is actually a good watch. Film reviews definitely guide the viewer and portray a general opinion about a particular movie.

From leading newspapers, to magazines and movie websites, to blog posts; movie reviews are easily accessible and can be read at leisure. So before you make up your mind to watch a movie read a review on it. It would definitely help you decide what to watch, and what not to watch.

Deliberate Stranger

Movie Details :

Starring :

Mark Harmon as Ted Bundy

Frederic Forrest as Detective Bob Keppel

Ben Master as Detective Mike Fisher

Runtime – 185 mins

Movie Review

The Deliberate Stranger is one of the earlier movies dipicting the life and crimes of one of America’s most notorious serial killers, Ted Bundy. The movie is based on the book of the same name written by friend and colleague of Bundy’s, Richard Larson.

Larson’s perspective on the Ted Bundy story leaves out a lot of what made Bundy the monster that he was ie. his mental state and focuses more on the events, time lines and of course the outward persona of Bundy. Not suprising since Larson was one of Bundy’s supporters when he was accused of the brutal murders of all those women, it is easy to see why Larson drew attention to Bundy’s apparent all-American boy image in this movie.

This is where Mark Harmon comes in to the picture. The decision to cast the cute, wholesome looking Harmon in the starring role was an inspired choice. Harmon gives a convincing performance and is credible as the charming confident Ted and also as the psychotic killer Ted.

As mentioned before this movie does not get into the mindset of Bundy, nor is it graphic in nature when dipicting the murders, for this reason Harmon is the ideal choice of actor for the part as we see only what those around Ted at the time saw, a charming, handsome, polite man who would be the last person you would believe to be a killer.

The role of Bundy’s mousey girlfriend Cas Richter is played by Gylnnis O’ Connor. The relationship between the two is portrayed with real emotion, you can understand the reasons Cas stays with Ted despite her suspicions of him as she seems to think herself lucky to be in a relationship with a man who apparently has it all.

Bundy’s victims are played by attractive model/actresses such as Terry Farrell who plays the role of Katie Hargreaves.

An interesting aspect of this movie is the fact that it is tells the stories of Bundy, the detectives tring to catch him, his girlfriend Cas, and the families of the victims.

This is a great movie and is worth a watch if you have not seen it or another watch if you saw it when it came out in 1986.
